What are you doing May 24th? How about long ride with Toronto Endurance cyclist Peter Oyler?
In 2007, Peter raced his bike across the US in Race Across America (RAAM) to raise money for Kids Help Phone. I was lucky enough to be part of his 8 man crew and support him to cycle 4800km and climb over 100,000 feet (its like climbing Mt Everest 3 times). He did this in 10 days - which equates to 21 hours of cycling a day and 3 hours of sleep.
He is doing it again in 2009 to raise money for Kids Help Phone - his target is $250,000. There is also a lot of expenses for Pete's ride, so we will be having a fundraising ride on May 24th. All money collected will support Pete's training efforts.
The ride will start from Elgin Mills and ride of up Lake Simcoe where there will be a barbeque to help you refuel for the ride back. There will be two groups - one will be a faster speed (approx. 30+ kph) and another group which will tackle a slightly shorter route. No one will be left behind and there will also be a follow car to support the groups with fluids, clothing storage, photography and repair assistance.
